Privacy Policy

The plain-language version: we only collect what we need to run Meetzen, we don't sell your data, and you can delete your account anytime.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to operate Meetzen and improve your experience:

  • Account info: email, name, avatar (if provided), timezone, and how you authenticate (Google or magic link).
  • Usage data: sessions joined, focus minutes, streaks, and goals you choose to share. These power your stats and achievements.
  • Device & technical info: browser, IP address, and approximate region. Used for security and analytics.
  • Payment info: we never see your card number. Payments are handled by Stripe (USD) or Razorpay (INR). We only store the subscription status.

2. How we use it

  • Provide and improve the service — matching, rooms, streaks, analytics.
  • Authenticate you and prevent abuse.
  • Send essential emails (sign-in codes, billing receipts) and optional product updates you can unsubscribe from at any time.
  • Investigate reports and enforce our Terms.

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We do not use it for advertising profiles.

3. Sharing & processors

We share data only with the processors required to run Meetzen:

  • Hosting & infrastructure — our cloud provider, used to run our servers and database.
  • Authentication — Google (if you choose Google sign-in).
  • Email delivery — to send sign-in codes and notifications.
  • Payments — Stripe (USD) and Razorpay (INR).
  • Analytics — privacy-respecting aggregate usage data, no personal identifiers.

Each processor handles your data under their own privacy terms; we use only reputable, GDPR-compliant providers.

4. Video, audio & chat content

Video and audio in rooms are peer-to-peer (WebRTC) — they don't pass through our servers and are not recorded.

Chat text and file attachments are stored on our server so room participants can see history on reload. You can delete your own messages at any time, and they're deleted automatically when an account is deleted.

5. Cookies

We use one essential cookie (fm_token) to keep you signed in. It's HTTP-only and secure in production. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

6. Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Session and analytics data are retained for up to 24 months for stats. When you delete your account, we soft-delete it immediately and purge personal data within 30 days, except where legally required (e.g., billing records for tax purposes).

7. Your rights

Depending on your region (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Object to certain processing.

8. Security

We use TLS for all traffic, hash passwords with bcrypt, and store JWT tokens in HTTP-only cookies. Internal access to production data is limited and logged. No system is 100% secure, but we do our best — if something feels off, please tell us.

9. Children

Meetzen is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.

10. Changes

If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and notify you by email or in-app banner. Minor edits (typos, clarifications) may happen without notice.
